Take in the majestic Victoria Falls ‘the smoke that thunders’ – the largest curtain of water in the world. Wonder at the great herds of elephant, buffalo and sable in Hwange National Park, and take in the superb wildlife located within the floodplains of Africa’s Great Rift Valley at Mana Pools. Mount Zion Tours and Travels have combined these three spectacular areas to offer you an unsurpassed safari adventure.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Victoria Falls
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, a Mount Zion Tours and Travels Representative will meet and transfers you to your hotel. This after-noon enjoy a romantic sun downer cruise on the Zambezi River, above the mighty Falls.
Day 2: Victoria Falls
Depart on a morning tour to Victoria Falls, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. This evening enjoy a fantastic experience when dining at the Boma at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. The Boma is an African feast to savour – not only the food, but also the cultural aspect: sangomas (witchdoctors) will tell your fortune; African performers dance and song; drumming sessions will help you unwind – a real African extravaganza!
Day 3: Victoria Falls / Hwange National Park
This morning transfer back to Victoria Falls Airport, in time to board your light aircraft flight transfer to Hwange National Park. Spend the afternoon exploring this largest game reserve in Zimbabwe.
Day 4-5: Hwange National Park
This area of Hwange National Park is ecologically diverse, ensuring great numbers of animals year round. Here you get to enjoy game drives in open 4×4 vehicles and guided walks, alternatively you can view game coming down to the waterhole to drink from the tent verandas.
Day 6: Hwange National Park / Mana Pools National Park
Today board a light aircraft flight from Hwange to Mana Pools National Park. On the middle reaches of the Zambezi River, a hundred kilometres below Lake Kariba is the Mana Pools National Park situated in the heart of the Zambezi Valley. Ruckomechi Camp lies on the banks of the Zambezi, shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees and with a superb view of the mountains of Africa’s Great Rift Valley across the river in Zambia.
Day 7-8: Mana Pools National Park
Game activities vary from game drives in open safari vehicles in the morning or the afternoons, motorised pontoon boats or on canoes, on foot and in hides. This area is renowned for large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and eland, especially in the winter when they concentrate along the river. Predators such as lion, leopard and wild dog are all found in the area. Birdlife is superb, with the river and seasonal pans attracting large numbers of water birds and excellent mix of species in the riverine vegetation and mopane woodlands.
Day 9: Mana Pools / Depart Harare
This morning depart via light aircraft to Harare, for you onward journey. Alternatively extend your stay to enjoy a thrilling experience traversing the Mana Pools National Park, along the Zambezi River, canoeing in comfortable, stable canoes past more than a thousand hippos on the way!
